Abhijit Iyer Fails To Submit Affidavit on anti-Odisha remarks

Delhi-based journalist and blogger Abhijit Iyer Mitra reappeared before the State Assembly House Committee today but failed to submit his affidavit.
The House Committee has given him a last chance to comply tomorrow at any cost.
Assembly House Committee Chairman and Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said, “Abhijit Iyer Mitra was directed by the Committee to personally appear and submit his affidavit. He hasn’t submitted his affidavit today. He sought some time and was also granted. He told that his lawyer would be bringing that affidavit. Hence, we waited for sometime.”
“As the affidavit couldn’t be submitted today, the Committee proceedings got adjourned till tomorrow. We have once again directed him to submit the affidavit tomorrow at 11 am. He has also been warned that it is his last chance granted,” noted the House Committee Chairman.
It may be recalled that Mitra’s statement has already been recorded by the Committee headed by the Leader of Opposition and five other senior legislators Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Debiprasad Mishra, Pramila Mallick, Arun Kumar Sahoo and Sanjay Kumar Das Burma during his first appearance on October 23.
The Delhi-based journalist and blogger courted controversy over his distasteful remarks on the Konark Sun Temple, Odisha and its legislators.
