Attack on Cops: 60+ Nabbed

Cuttack (Reporters Today Bureau): The Twin City Police today detained over 60 persons, including 15 women on charges of attacking policemen and Cuttack Municipal Corporation staff at Nuapada Balisahi on May 11. It is pertinent to mention here that few displaced people, including children were injured after the tent they were staying in was blown away by thunderstorm and gusty wind on May 11.

On receiving information, when a team of Madhupatna police and CMC staff reached the spot, the angry residents allegedly attacked them. They also allegedly vandalized the police vehicle. Later, five platoons of police force were deployed in the area to bring the situation under control. After that, the Madhupatna police registered a case against the attackers.

The CMC had rehabilitated around 1200 families, evicted from the slums located at Chhatra Bazaar Behera Sahi, Ranihat Sagadia Sahi, Pilgrim Road Das Sahi, Malgodown Jalua Sahi for the expansion of Taladanda canal road, and accommodated them in  two tents at Balisahi for a temporary period.
