Bali Jatra All Set to Enter Guinness Book of World Records

Cuttack: The famous Bali Jatra of Silver City Cuttack is all set to be featured in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has made arrangements for making as many as 10,000 paper boats, celebrating the glorious maritime history of Odisha.

The civic body had contacted the headquarters of the Guinness Book of World Records in London and received in reply a list of protocols for organising the event to attempt the record. The aim of the move by the CMC is global recognition of the annual open trade fair on the Mahanadi river bank in the city.

An attempt will be made for creation of 10,000 paper boats in mere 15 minutes to secure the world record. The size and weight of the paper boats have been prescribed by the authorities of Guinness Book of World Records.

For evaluation and management purpose, two judges from the Guinness Book of World Records headquarters and a five-member team from the Mumbai branch office will be present during the event. The final blueprint of the event, scheduled to be organised at the Bali Jatra ground, will be prepared by the CMC within October 31.
