Bhubaneswar: With an aim at making Bhubaneswar a bin-free city, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has added Jatayu, an additional scientific tool, for sanitation activity on roads.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das in presence of Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar and Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange inaugurated Jatayu Cleaning Machine at Janpath near Census Office. She also launched the equipment at District Centre in Chandrasekharpur area.
With 1.5 ton capacity and 9-diameter suction pipe, Jatayu machine can suck garbage and hard materials from roadside. While ‘Jagruti’ will deploy the machine for cleaning of garbage from main roads of the city, another agency namely ‘Pratyush’ will clean internal roads of the city.
During inauguration programme at both the locations in the city on Friday, Sanitation Standing Committee Chairman Biranchi Narayan Mahasupakar and other corporators were present along with senior officials including Additional Commissioners Laxmikanta Sethy, Binaya Kumar Dash and Suryawanshi Mayur Vikash.
The event was coordinated by Deputy Commissioner Sanitation Suvendu Kumar Sahu. Zonal Deputy Commissioners Priyabrata Padhi and Purandar Nanda managed the event at South East and North Zone respectively.
