Dreaded Criminal Injured in Police Encounter

Cuttack: A dreaded criminal was injured following an encounter by the police at Bidanasi area in Cuttack this evening. The criminal identified as Shankar alias Deepak Nayak sustained injuries in left leg and later was rushed to the SCB Medical College in Cuttack.

Police said that Nayak opened fire at police near Bidanasi. In retaliation, the police team fired at him following which he sustained bullet injuries on his left leg. Police have seized a pistol from his possession.

Police said that several cases including extortion are pending against Nayak at various police stations of Cuttack and adjoining areas.
