DRI Seized Gold Bars at Srikakulam Railway Station, 1 Held

Bhubaneswar: The officials of DRI Visakhapatnam intercepted one person who arrived at Srikakulam Railway Station from Kolkata by Train No.12839 Chennai Mail (Howrah to Chennai) on 09.03.2023 along with the recipient who came to the railway platform and met the said arrived person.

From the inner zip lining pocket of the arrived person’s Trolley Bag, 8 bars of smuggled gold of 7.396 Kgs (99.9 purity 24 Carat) valued at Rs. 4.21 Crore were seized.

It was revealed that gold was smuggled from Bangladesh & melted/recast into bars in Kolkata. The 2 persons were arrested and were remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is in progress.
