IMA urges PM to promulgate ordinance to check violence against doctors

Surjit Kumar Dhal,  New Delhi, Sep 4: The Indian Medical Association has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enact a Central law to check violence against health professionals. It has also urged him to bring an ordinance in this regard. The letter comes in the backdrop of protests by the medical fraternity in Assam against the deadly assault on a doctor at a tea garden.

Meanwhile, the World Medical Association (WMA) has also written to Prime Minister Modi and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan expressing concern over increasing incidents of violence against health professionals in India.
