Cuttack: The district administration of Cuttack has sealed the Mundali toll gate for indefinite period following the assault on a group of tourists from Chhattisgarh by staffers of the toll plaza.
As many as four employees of the toll gate were arrested in connection with the offence. They have been booked under Section 147, 148, 341, 384, 323, 324, 325, 307, 427, 506, 354 (B) and 149 of the IPC, said an official of Athagarh police.
The incident took place when the tourists were returning to their home state in two buses after spending around 17 days in Odisha. An argument ensued between the tourists and employees of the toll gate over collection of toll fees on May 23. The employees allegedly sought Rs 500 as toll fee from each of the two buses, sources said.
The tourists and the employees got engaged in a tussle when the former refused to pay anything more than Rs 200 as toll fee for a bus. At least 10 tourists, including two women, were injured when the employees of the toll gate attacked them with bamboo sticks and plastic pipes, sources added.
