Nokia X6 gets renamed to Nokia 6.1 Plus for the global market

HMD Global is preparing to bring its first smartphone with a notch to the global market. The Finnish smartphone has rechristened the Nokia X6 as Nokia 6.1 Plus for the global market. The smartphone has been launched for the Hong Kong market first, and should be headed to India soon.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus features hardware that is identical to the Nokia X6 currently being sold in China. The smartphone features a 5.8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels, and a notch that houses the front camera and other sensors. Due to the notched display, the Nokia 6.1 Plus has a taller 19:9 aspect ratio as opposed to 18:9 aspect ratio seen on most flagship devices. It also features a premium design with glass back and aluminum frame.

Under the hood, the Nokia 6.1 Plus gets Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, which is an octa-core mobile CPU with Adreno 509 GPU. The smartphone, when it launches in India, will compete against the likes of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. While the Chinese version is offered in three different storage variants, the Nokia 6.1 Plus comes standard with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.

On the camera front, the Nokia 6.1 Plus features dual rear camera setup comprising of a 16-megapixel f/2.0 main sensor, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone also offers a 16-megapixel selfie shooter with 1 micron pixel size and f/2.0 aperture. The Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo, is Android One certified, and is confirmed to receive two major software updates. The smartphone is backed by a 3,060mAh battery, and will be available in white and blue colors. The Nokia 6.1 Plus is priced at HKD 2,288 (around Rs 20,100), and will be available starting July 24.
