Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Amidst the daily rise in Covid 19 cases in Odisha, in order to prevent the spread of infections inside the prisons, the Odisha Government issued an SOP.
Directorate of Prisons and Correctional Services, Odisha, in a letter asked the Superintendent of all Jails to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 inside the prisons.
SOP issued for prisons in Odisha:
- Anybody who is found positive in this process should be sent to the ‘dedicated COVID Care Centre/COVID Health Centre/COVID Hospital’ by the concerned remanding agencies like Police, Forest, Excise or Vigilance as the case may be for treatment with the permission of remanding courts. They will be shifted to the Jails after being recovered in the dedicated COVID Care Centre/Dedicated COVID Health Centre/Dedicated COVID Hospital.
- All COVID-positive prisoners should be sent to the nearest COVID Care Centres and critically ill COVID patients to COVID Care Hospitals.
- COVID positive cases should not be kept inside the jails.
- Other instructions in the SOP of Government as well as all guidelines issued during 2020 shall be followed.
