OGB employee attempts suicide for mental pressure of bank chairman

Adarsh Rout, Bhubaneswar: A bank manager tried to commit suicide due to pressure from his superiors. Ganesh Kumar Paikrai, working as brach manager at  Odisha Gramya Bank, Amarda branch of Balasore dist. Ganesh attempts attempts suicide for mental pressure of bank chairman. He was admitted in Cuttack SCB, later the family members admitted him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Ganesha is now battling with death. Ganesh’s belongs to Bhadrak district while he was working in Balasore. Ganesha has been working at Odisha Gramya Bank for last 2 years. But since there was no manager in the bank, he was appointed to the managerpost by the bank authorities. However, he was not mentally prepared for the task and refused to do so. But authorities ignored his allegations. Ganesh presented his problem during a recent high-level meeting. His superiors have been widely accused of intimidation and threatened to ruin his career. So he has tried to commit suicide

Ganesh’s Brother: Odisha Gramya Bank not following any HR policy for transfer and posting. Bank chairman M. Mohan & General Manager Jagarnath Prasad Nayak always threatening staffs for transfer, suspension and termination. My brother couldn’t tolerate such repeated humiliation on video conference so he committed suicide.

Ganesh’s Sister: My brother was crying due to the threatening of Chairman & General Manger. Its not a suicide it’s a murder by the Chairman & General Manger.

Asit Khandai, President, OGB Employees Association: We have raised against such policy many times. But present management giving false promises. We would discuss and take appropriate action.

Satyabrata Nanda, General Secretary, OGB Employees Association: We accept that the said allegation by the family of victim is true. Bank is not following any policy. They are misusing their power, doesn’t listen any grievances of employees.
