Steps towards strengthening child rights issues

Government to make strategic shifts and help accelerate and sustain progress towards strengthening research on child rights and issues related to children, National Law University of Odisha at Cuttack will set up a Chief Minister’s Chair on Child Rights.
As per the latest step towards the plan it was said that, the Higher Education department recently
approved setting up of the chair which will be funded by the state government. The government will provide an annual grant of nearly Rs 60 lakh for the chair which will have one professor, two research staff and one office staff.
It will be set up at the NLUO’s Centre for Child Rights which was established in the year 2015, it aims at strengthening law and justice for children and child wellbeing by supporting and initiating research, policy advocacy and community action on children related issues.
It intends to provide integrated support and consultancy to different layers of institutional governance for protection and insurance of child rights.
