Tusker Tramples Minor Girl to Death

Baleswar: In a tragic incident, a six-year-old minor girl was trampled to death by a jumbo in Soro area of Baleswar district late last night.

As per reports, the incident took place at Saralia Chitrashul village of Singakhunta panchayat under Soro police limits when one Nishikant Dehuri of the village was sleeping at home with his family.

Around five to six elephants entered his backyard. On hearing the noise, the family members woke up and rushed out of the house. Unfortunately, the kid was left inside the house. One of elephants entered the house and trampled her.

The villagers rescued the baby girl and rushed her to a local medical facility where the doctors declared her dead. A pall of gloom descended on the village following the incident.  The locals have demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.
